The Origin of Perceptrum
The story of Dora Motèque and Luciano Ciamarone is a convergence of visual storytelling, physics, and music. Together, they founded Perceptrum (also known as Perceptrum²), an artistic duo dedicated to redefining the traditional boundaries of artistic experience. Instead of treating painting as a static object observed from a distance, they developed the idea of a surface of relation, an interactive medium that listens, remembers, and responds through touch and sound.
The Convergence of Two Worlds
Before forming Perceptrum, Dora and Luciano came from distinct but complementary creative trajectories.
- Dora Motèque brought a foundation in human-centered space, narrative, and visual identity. Her work spans symbolic video art exploring identity (such as Paradoxical, 2019) and architectural stage design studies like Turandot (2017), where she investigated how space shapes perception and emotion. - Luciano Ciamarone works at the intersection of physics and sound. With a background in physics and music, his work spans signal processing, real-time audio analysis, and physics-inspired sonification systems. [portfolio]
When their paths crossed, they discovered a shared philosophy: in an increasingly disembodied digital world, physical touch remains a fundamental cultural act. This idea became the foundation of Perceptrum.
